What is Application Facilitation?

A unique service provided by Thoughts to Paper which reduces uncertainty and risk in the process to obtain a utility or design patent. It's two primary functions are to:

  1. Reduce cost uncertainty: By fixating fees that would normally be variable.
  2. Reduce monetary risk: By allowing you to pay most costs only if you successfully obtain a patent.

How this is beneficial:

  1. Fees are fixed upfront, you know what you will pay
    Patent firms often charge by the hour causing you to not know exactly how much you will end up paying. This brings a level of uncertainty and risk. With Application Facilitation, you will know exactly how much you need to pay at the beginning of application filing as well as if and when you receive your patent. You pay us a fixated fee schedule and we bear the risk of cost variability by paying the patent firm as required.
  2. Reduce your upfront investment and the risk of not obtaining a patent
    The average patent application through an experienced patent firm in 2007 cost over $8,000. That is an irrecoverable expense regardless of if you are issued a patent by the US Patent Office. With Application Facilitation, we will cover most of that upfront cost for you. All we ask is that you pay us back if, and only if, you are issued a patent by the US Patent Office. If you are unable to receive a patent, you have no additional obligation towards us!
